Meet Jennifer Bicknell
– A Most unlawyerly lawyer

I’ve been a lawyer for over 30 years, and I love it. I specialise in workplace law and managing reputation risks, I was lucky enough to spend 15 years at Minter Ellison and 8 years as a partner at Kennedys, then founded my law firm and dispute prevention advisory business, Bicknell Law & Consulting, in 2015.

Whilst I have a lot of experience in dispute resolution, my real passion is dispute prevention and helping managers prevent small workplace issues becoming big, hairy ones.

How do I do this? By providing my clients with one-on-one coaching sessions, workshops for entire teams and now, this “Difficult Conversations in the Workplace” online course.

I have found that with just a little bit of training, and the right script, my clients have completely transformed the way they tackle workplace issues. And that makes me positively giddy!

Want to know more about how I help prevent and resolve workplace disputes?

FAQ’s

1. How long does the course take?

If you watch the course from go to wo it will take around 1 hour.

I’m hoping you will stop at the end of each chapter and record your light bulb moments in the workbook. If so, it will take a little longer, but you will be glad that you did.

The chapters are short and self contained so you can watch them at your own pace. While we encourage you to complete the Chapters in order, you can also move ahead to different Chapters, such as the Chapter 12 Scenarios, according to your personal preference.

There’s no right or wrong way – whatever works for you!

2. Can I share my login code with someone else?

No, your login code is specific to you. (Apparently my software guy has put something in the code, so if someone else tries to access your copy of the course, alarm bells will ring).

3. How do I use the workbook?

You can use the workbook by downloading and printing it and taking notes by hand in the hard copy or downloading and saving it and typing into it as you go.  If you choose the electronic route make sure you download it onto your device. If you fill it out in browser like Chrome or Safari you won’t be able to ‘save’ your answers.

4. How do your combination “Difficult Conversations in the Workplace” online course and coaching and/or workshop packages work?

Pretty darn well actually!

The online course contains the tools needed to master having difficult conversations – provided that you practice what you learn. The coaching and workshops are designed for those who want to focus on specific issues or practice what they have learnt either with me or with their colleagues.

Coaching clients complete the online course as pre-learning, and then in their one-on-one, face-to-face or online sessions, focus on nailing particular types of conversations through scripting and role plays. It’s all about building confidence and addressing any specific areas of concern.

In corporate workshops, the participants complete the online course as pre-learning. Then, in a bespoke face-to-face or online workshop, focus on the needs of the business and its people, by addressing particular types of conversations through scripting and role plays. Again, it’s all about building confidence and addressing any specific areas of concern.

The coaching and the workshops have the same ‘feel’ as the online course – informative but relaxed and fun.

5. What if I have a technical issue?

I could tell you to try “Ctrl Alt Delete” but I hate it when people tell me to do that (even though it usually works…). Any problems please click here to let us know and we will help you as soon as possible.

If your concern relates to sound, this is could be a hardware issue, or related to the current sound setting on your device. We suggest as a first step checking the individual settings on your device or refreshing or restarting the individual chapter.

6. Can I do the course at my own pace?

Yes. Once you purchase the online course it is yours to keep and refer back to whenever you like.
